Musings and Things

Urgh! Sorry I've been gone for the past few days. I've lacked all motivation to do...well, anything. :) I've just recently started back school from a week and a half break. I'm trying to get back into my normal day-to-day groove. It's taking a bit more time than normal. But hey, I've only got two and a half more weeks of school until CHRISTMASSSSSSS BREAK!!!(just in case you couldn't tell, I'm not very fond of school.)
I don't have any thing incredibly interesting to blog about tonight. A lack of motivation takes away all creativity and care from me. However, I've figured that I've left you guys without anything to feast your eyes upon for far too long. So tonight, I'll leave you with a few of my most current musings and such.
P.S. BOTH of my modcloth orders will be in either tomorrow or Thursday. You guys helped my pick out my amazing dress, but I found something else that I felt I just couldn't live without. I'll wait to show you all until I get it. So. New outfit postings very very soon. Btw, DRESSEMBER IS HERE! Who's got the guts to participate? At least a little...
Without further ado, here are a few musings of mine.

Urban Outfitters November 2010

I'm a little late on this, saying that November is almost over. However, I've been wanting to do a post on Urban Outfitter's catalog for this month. I just found the pictures tonight. Even though I should be posting December's, I feel like I should wait until it is actually December. I'll entertain you now though with the photos from the November 2010 catalog.
This months shoot was photographed by Cass Bird. The theme for this month's catalog collection was "A Cow Herder's Summer Dream". The shoot took place on an actual farm! The shoot looked much like something out of a country music video. The photographer did a great job depicting the lazy yet chic days of youth that Urban Outfitters caters to.
Personally, I get the catalog specifically for the reason that it feeds my love of photography. UO always does a wonderful job with booking the best models and photographers who help portray the Urban Outfitters image.

These Boots Are Made For Walking

Unlike most years, I wasn't up for Black Friday shopping this time around. However, I decided to go today with an aunt of mine. I am VERY glad that I did.
I wasn't planning on buying anything. I'm currently poor, so I'm trying to save a bit. However, I got my rascaly little hands on an amazing pair of boots.
I've been searching for a pair like this for quite some time. I've found multiple online, but they were all way out of my price range. Luckily, I snagged these beauties up at our local Maurice's for less than forty dollars!

Decisions, Decisions, Decisions

I'm looking for a new dress to buy, imagine that. I normally look for something fairly cheap in price but at the moment I feel like splurging a bit. I'm completely stuck between two ModCloth dresses and I need major help picking one out. Will you guys help me? Leave your decisions in a comment below please!

My first choice is a vintagey 40's style red dress. I absolutely adore it and it's bright floral print and the shape of the dress. However, I'm a bit worried that it will clash too much with the red of my hair.

My next choice is also a vintagey 40's/50's style dress. But it's black. I don't normally wear black because I find it to be slightly depressing. Anytime I wear something of a darker shade, it's almost always a really dark purple or navy. I think that this dress could be an acception to this rule that I have though. I LOVE the bird-like designs that it has.

My New Grandma Sweater

With November almost gone and December almost here, the weather is changing. Which means it's time for lots and lots of sweaters! I mentioned a few posts ago that I had gotten my hands on a new sweater at Goodwill alond with my new heels. It's a pretty interesting one I might add. It's a little more "Grandma" than I would normally go for, but it was too unique for me to pass up. Needless to say, I'm extremely happy that I got it.
I wasn't entirely sure what I was going to pair it with, saying as though I'm not one to match things to what I have in my closets. However, once I got it home I found more than enough things to pair it with.
Tonight, I paired it with this navy strapless dress that I found over the summer at Charlotte Russe for school. I absolutely love this dress. It goes with almost anything. My favorite part about it is it's pockets:)
I'm pretty sure that I've featured these shoes once before, but they're currently my favorite. So, I'll get my use out of them while I can.
I've only worn this necklace a handful of times. I got it last spring at Forever21 I adore owls, especially this one. It's got a lot of character, I think. It's got multiple patterns and I love the tiny pearls around its eyes.

My Favorite Accessory

No, it's not a favorite handbag or one of my many rings. It's my shoes. I have more than anyone could possibly need. However, I've got an addiction, and it must be fueled. I find my shoes everywhere but my favorites are always the thrifted ones. They're always unique, which I absolutely love. I love to have something that no one else has. Of course, there's not always something in my size, so I deal with name brand and department store finds;). For the most part, I could care less about where a pair of shoes come from just so long as they are cute.
Whenever I get a new pair of shoes, I tend to neglect my others. I wear the new pair with everything almost, whether it matches or not. I often forget about all of my others. After a week or two, I always come back to them. Am I the only one who treats her shoes like they have feelings?
Needless to say that in my future, I will be the lady who has an entire closet full of shoes. You know, like Jennifer Garner in Thirteen Going On Thirty. Yeah, That will certainly be me!

This one's my favorite!

Dressember

Dressember was created by Blythe Hill. A whole month dedicated to only wearing dresses in December, thus the name Dressember. 31 days of nothing but dresses! Ah, this shall be absolute heaven for me! No pants, skirts, shirts, or shorts, just dresses. Repeats are allowed! If you would like to take part in this event, join the group at Dressember's Flickr

Movie Inspiration

I seem to draw a lot of my style inspiration from what I see in the movies. I always really like the way certain characters dress. I like that how, in a way, their style helps develop and make the character. One of my favorites is Summer Finn (Zooey Deschanel) from the film 500 Days Of Summer.
I love the way that she wears one single color throughout the movie. It really helps to establish who she is. It also brings out her eyes! :) Her style is a mix between retro 50's and the mod 60's. It's an interesting combination and she is able to pull it off very well. Another reason that I love it? Because she basically wears nothing but dresses...and I am a dress-o-holic.
Here are a few of my favorite Summer Finn outfits from the movie.

Item Of The Moment

Ah, two in one week! As you can probably tell, my interests change rapidly. Today, on a little excursion with my lovely man friend, I found an awesome grandma sweater at GoodWill. BUT, my favorite item that I had discovered tonight was an awesome pair of sailor-ish heels. I love the red-coral color. The nifty gold ties on the toes and backs add a nice sailor feel. They're not too tall and not too short which is great because it gives me just enough height without being incredibly painful. I'm not entirely sure what I will wear them with, saying as though I have nothing to match their sailor feel. However, I think they're still a pretty great item and I'm extremely happy that I am their proud owner!

Lace and Sacagawea

The one thing that I've been trying to get my grubby little hands on lately is a lace dress. They seem almost like the new LBD, that's little black dress for those of you who do not know. (I give my props to years of cosmo reading.) You can make a lace dress dressy, or just fun and casual.
I went on a little shopping trip the other day and I found this grey one for $6 at our mall's Rue21. Which, I normally hate, but I went into on a whim. I decided to pair it with this Native American-esque sweater I found at Aeropostale for $16. I found the shoes that I have paired with the outfit at Charming Carlie's Boutique for $5. I'm proud to say that I have a complete head-to-toe look for less than 30 bucks!

In The Time Of The Butterflies

I've never been a huge fan of butterflies. However, today while browsing the racks at Target, I noticed a pretty cool dress with a butterfly pattern. I wasn't entirely sure what I would ever wear this with. So I started to think of what I had in my own closet that could possibly match. Then I found this really cool lace sweater. I couldn't resist buying the two pieces. But then again, I can never resist buying anything. Especially when the prices are dirt cheap. Oh yeah! The whole outfit, including the headband, was only 15 dollars!

btw, I finally got a tripod so i'll be taking more outfit pictures. YAY!

Item Of The Moment

I've decided that I'm going to start writing an "Item Of The Moment" entry. Basically an entry about one of my new, favorite things. Today, I shall write about my new opera wallet that I got over the weekend.

I found this super cute owl opera wallet at Target this past sunday for $9.99!
It's a bit small for my liking, but it was too cute to pass up.
