Nola: The Outfit

Hey you. I hope your weekend has been swell! Mine certainly was. I spent my entire day Saturday in New Orleans, the greatest city ever. I got to visit some of my favorite sights and see some pretty...interesting people and things. Twas a great day. I got to see my first Nola wedding, which was pretty exciting. For those of you not from Louisiana, a New Orleans wedding is unlike any other. I assure you. I have a few pictures of the "parade" that I will be uploading tomorrows alon with a few other pictures. I've got many a story to be told! However, tonight all I really feel like sharing with you is my outfit. Nothing against you all, I'm just incredibly tired from my busy weekend.

I hope that you all have enjoyed the outfit shots that I have shared with you. I was still feeling a bit "hippie" from Friday, hence the tribal/hippie dress.

The Age of Aquarius

As I said yesterday, today was my American History class's annual Hippie Day. I must say that it was a lot of fun. Everyone looked wonderful in their 60's attire. Here's what I wore:

I searched for the perfect hippie dress for many months, until I found this blue vintage number. I fell in love with all of the embroidered flowers and the flowiness of it.

I'm sure you're wondering what exactly we did today. Basically, we all sat down on the floor and sang Syd Barret and Jimi Hendrix songs. My teacher alsop burned a TON of incense, which after a while gave me a killer headache. All in all though, it was a swell time.
Here are two of my personal favorite songs from the hippie era:
Wish You Were Here-Pink Floyd

Dreams-Fleetwood Mac (Isn't Stevie Nicks just the best?!)

I am sorry for the briefness of this posst, I have to clean and whatnot. Sunday, I will hopefully have a pretty exciting post for you all. I'm taking a trip down to Nola (New Orleans for those of you not from Louisiana) with my family and manfriend. GOOD TIMES!!!

Until next time,
-Meganne

In Honor of Hippie Day

Sorry for the post overload tonight, but this was something that had to be done.
In the light of my American History class's annual "Hippie Day", here are a few of my favorite "hippie" looks. Including some from my favorite Designer, Project Runway winner Gretchen Jones.

Love, Pamela Love

Being the jewelry lover that I am, I am completely head over heels in love with Pamela Love's Spring 2011 collection. Her collection is quite edgy and pretty badass looking. Normally, the bulk of her pieces are all bird related, which I absolutely love. However, her Spring 2011 collection is a bit different from her norm. Most of the pieces look like something that should totally be thrown together with a good amount of leather. Or, a nice boho maxi dress, ya know, just to mix things up a bit. The pieces are so versatile, you could where them with practically anything.

Being the up-scale designer that she is, her pieces are not something that I could ever see having in my possession. But, a girl can dream a little can't she?!
My two favorite pieces; RINGS! Aren't they super cool?

I've got some news for you guys! Earlier tonight, I received a message from the editor of That's So New York about being a writer/contributor for the site. Wish me luck?!

Also, I'm thinking about changing the layout of the blog. I want something a bit...less hectic. What do you think? Any suggestions?

Love and such,

Crackle

Hello! Sorry for the lack of posts this past week or so. I've been...lazy. I have no excuses. None at all. While I don't have a super cool outfit posts for you guys today, I do have a product review! Whoot whoot!
china-glaze-crackle
I'm sure you've all seen the new craze in nail polish. Ya know, Crackle polish? Well. I've been on a search for some for the past month or so when I saw it on another blog. I was so amazed by it and I just had to have it. I was out and about the other day, and I stopped by Sally's Beauty Supply, and I found it! I wasn't really thrilled because they didn't have O.P.I. All that they had had was China Glaze and while I've heard it was good quality, O.P.I is what I trust. Since I couldn't find crackle polish anywhere else, I decided to get it, despite my skepticalness.
china_glaze_crackle2
The first time I used it, I wasn't very pleased with the end results. I had caked it on like I would with any other polish, and it didn't crackle. I tried again and I finally figged it out. You have to put an incredibly thin layer on, or else your crackle will end up looking slightly giraffish.
Anywhos, I love this product and i stongly urge you to test it out on your own!
This is the color I had choosen. It is "Cracked Concrete".

Well, it is far past my bedtime. So. Sweet dreams and all of that jazz.

The Skirt My Boyfriend Hates

Yesterday, while visiting my boyfriend, we took a little trip to Goodwill. I found some pretty cool items, but I only walked away with two items. One being this amazing coral skirt! My boyfriend hated it at first, but I think he warmed up to it after I wore it out today. I love the color of it and the buttons. I'm sorry I didn't get a close up of the buttons, but they are little gold buttons with anchors on them. I love the sailoresque feel to it.

I did a post a last month or so where I had hoped to take pictures in front of a
train. But, by the time my self timer went off, the train had past. Well, today on my way home from an outing with my manfriend, there was a HUGE train. I jumped out of my car and immediately got Stephen to snap some pictures. I'm very happy with the outcome. Thank you, honey!

Autumn, I Miss You

It is true, I deeply miss Autumn. It is my favorite season and it is far gone and far away. I love autumn colors, and even though I wear them all year, it still just doesn't feel "right". Ya know, wearing warm reds, browns, oranges, blues and greens isn't exactly ideal for the bright and cheery summer. In winter it is far too dreary to wear those colors. But, I do it nevertheless.

I was missing this wonderful season this morning, so I threw on a ton of warm colors for school. I've only worn this sweater a handful of times. I'm not a huge fan of it, but it suited the mood well, so on it went. These shoes have only been worn once before, sadly. I love them. They are so comfortable. I wore them today for eight hours and was perfectly fine. I plan on wearing them a lot more now.
