New Shoes:)

I just ordered three new pairs of shoes from Urban Originals. I am in such love!

New Shoes

My favorite pair is the glitter pair in the center. There was a pair of lace up heeled boots on Modcloth that I had wanted a while back, but I couldn't afford a $300 pair of shoes. I got these babies for $25! I'm so ready for them to come in!
If you've never been to UrbanOG, I highly suggest you run over to the site right now, and click on SALE. Their shoe selection is just amazing. There's certainly something for everyone. Let me know if you end up ordering a pair.

Help Wanted!

Hi dolls! I hope you're all doing lovely and having a wonderful weekend.
I am having somewhat of a dilemma. My senior year of high school starts in just a few days and I have NO idea what to wear. I'm going to a new school, well, not really new, I haven't been there since 7th grade. But, It's not the school I've been going to for the rest of high school. I want to walk in and look awesome! In elementary and junior high I was slightly awkward. So, I want a fresh start. My goal for the year, actually it's been my goal for the past 2 years, is to get voted best dressed my senior year.
Sadly, I don't care about grades and other clubs, I care about being the best dressed. It's slightly sad. But hey, we all have our niche.

So, here is my first look, it's somewhat simple but still pretty cute. Since we have to wear uniforms, I don't have a ton of options for color, besides accessories. We have the choice of wearing navy or khaki dresses, skirts, shorts, or pants and red, white, or blue polos.

I got this dress at Tommy Hilfiger for $10. A steal, right?!

Option 2, An Urban Outfitters skirt and an Anthropologie sweater.

Option 3, A layered dress turned skirt and a pink GAP sweater. I loved this sweater so much, I got 5 more in different colors!

Option 4, My favorite of all four. An Anne Taylor high waisted skirt and a GAP sweater.

I'm sorry that I had to take these pictures inside. It is so hot outside, I can't take pictures out there. When I take my camera outside, my lens fogs up, so I have to clean it. And then the process just starts over. Ugh.

Anyways, PLEASE help me chose an outfit for my first day! It'd be so wonderful if you could.

Creepy, Crusty, Crumbling

So, this post is completely and totally not fashion related, but I just had to share this with you all. I stumbled across these photos of the old New Orleans Six Flags amusement park a few nights ago. I fell in love! The place has been completely deserted since Hurricane Katrina destroyed the city. Even though the rest of Nola is up and running, Six Flags is not and never will be. Sad day. :(

I totally want to stop by here one day and try to get in without getting caught. I'm not sure if I'm brave enough though. The place looks so...haunted. There are many more pictures and the entire article here.

Well, I hope you found these photos as equally amusing as I.

A Quick Complaint

I know, I know three posts in one day is far TOO MANY, but I have a quick complaint.
This complaint is on Chictopia. I am really starting to hate this site. It is always very obvious to see what girls are going to make it into their style gallery. I can always go through the pages of recently uploaded photos and pick out exactly what girls are going to make it and which ones aren't. There's never any variation, and I think that stinks!
Yes, there is the very occasional girl who isn't the typical "Chictopian", like Maria, but that girl is seldom seen. I am not complaining about this because I am never one of their top picks, as I don't even post on there very often, so don't think of this as some pity party. I am just expressing my opinion on the matter.

What's your opinion on this? Do you see this trend of girls and bloggers that are always chosen to be on the website's main page and that are always the "Editor's Pick"? Do you understand what I'm saying, or am I making no sense? Let me know how you feel about this!

Recipe: Spicey Cilantro Pesto & Bow Tie Pasta

IMG_1399

I have been on somewhat of a cooking craze lately. It's something that I'm getting somewhat good at and I'm really enjoying doing it. Today for lunch, I made some really yummy cilantro pesto. Here's the recipe:

Ingredients:

2 cups of cilantro
3 cloves of garlic
1 tbsp of oregano
1 tbsp of crushed red pepper
1 tbsp of butter
1/2 cup of shredded cheese (I used parmesean and mozzerella)
1/3 cup of olive oil (most recipes call for 1/2-1 cup, but for me half of a cup was too greasy)
Dash of salt and pepper to taste

You can use any type of pasta you want, bow tie pasta was just what I had.

Directions:
Boil pasta
Put all ingredients into blender or food processor
Blend all dry ingredients
Pour in olive oil while blending

*Use the pesto immediately so the oil doesn't separate itself.

I hope you enjoy this yummy dish!
Let me know if you make it and how it turns out!

The Monday Blues

Why, hello beautiful ladies! I hope that you're all having a wonderful Monday. Well, as wonderful as a Monday could possibly be. I spent my morning at my favorite little coffee shop listening to some wonderful sidewalk music and sipping a wonderful strawberry Italian cream soda. It's been a good day...so far.

Remember how a few posts ago I said my wardrobe was turning into Summer Finn's from 500 days of summer? Yeah, it so is. I'm certainly not trying to dress like her, it's just happening for some reason. The color blue just seems to make me happy. It's my favorite to wear.

How do ya like my sideways ponytail?

Well, I'm off to make something yummy for lunch. I do believe I'm going back to the coffee shop tonight to hear some sweet jams.

Have a swell day, ladies!
